A single red flower fills the center of the image, a tulip just beginning to open. Its petals are smooth and slightly curled inward at the top, forming a soft cup shape. The red is vivid and almost glowing in the sunlight, with subtle highlights where the light catches the delicate texture of the petals. One petal at the bottom flares outward, like a small skirt, revealing a hint of the flower’s inner structure. The background is heavily blurred, creating a soft wash of green tones that suggest leaves or garden plants. This blur makes the flower stand out sharply, almost as if it’s floating. The lighting is bright and direct, casting gentle shadows along the folds of the petals and emphasizing their velvety surface. And finally our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. Now for my poem.. I call it…The Gentle Heart A flame held gently in green air, Soft petals folding secrets there. They curve like hands that almost meet, Cradling warmth, both shy and sweet. Sunlight lingers on their skin, Tracing every line within, A quiet glow, a steady grace, Time made still in one small space. Around it, all the world is blurred, A hush where nothing must be heard, Just scarlet breathing, soft and slow, A single bloom the heart can know.
Morning #BlueSky ☕️ Taken this week..May our hearts be gentle this Sunday (poem in the Alt Text) Have a loving day friends 🥰 #Stunday #ECK

An old scan of a chemical film photo. Our subject is mostly surrounded by dark; the composition is done in a chiaroscuro manner. Her arms are mostly invisible because of the surrounding darkness, but she's stretching them upwards. -She desired to appear as emerging from the dark, into bright light. Her eyes are closed. Her lips seem to be faintly of a smile in formation. We used a diffusion lens filter as well, in order to soften the harsh, angular light coming directly across her from the left of the composition. The perspective is straight on. (This image is cropped because -well, to many people even the presence of a body of a woman denotes something of sexuality. This even can be wholly misperceived when it's obviously an artistic & creative representation of a person entirely involved with her presence in the piece. Oh well. Many of us retain a juvenile attitude towards art, a body, a person, an idea, and the fact that gender stirs their lurid nature of an underdeveloped soul...)
Here we have a fine, dark lace shawl draped over the body of a person's back. The buttocks has been cropped out of this version of the composition, on behalf of those who have a disposition of sexualizing any body, even if it's covered by a mostly dark, but still transparent & lovely fabric. The outstretched arms & waist of the body is mostly in silhouette. The light source is from the front & draperies are obvious, beyond the body & the lace shawl. Enjoy.
An ornate mask is on the face of our subject individual, appearing upside-down on a forest floor. Her elbows are propping her up, with her head & face turned to the side. A smoothness is apparent to her chin, jawline, shoulders, upper chest and arms. -Part of a dark necklace is visible hanging from around her neck. The image is cropped because this necklace falls upon, over & down a female chest. Female chests invoke sexuality for some viewers when in art it really most often simply denotes the feminine gender. Oh well. It's a distinctly different composition & perspective but that wouldn't be noticed by some if it hadn't been cropped away.
A cropped (to avoid the inclusion of a feminine breast) straight on portrait of a person laying on her side is top lit, in a chiaroscuro setting. Half of her rested head is in near entire darkness. Her face is without emotion or of much expression -other than that of calm. A hand of her's is resting in front of her, unfolded & relaxed. This is an old scan of a chemical film print.

Looking up the mountainside of Skunk Ridge in our Cedar Mountains. This is the scene that caught my eye. Due to my relatively new mobility problems I stayed stationary & close to my assistance devices. I'm fairly certain that these are five cedar trees, but I could be wrong. (I'm forgetful because of long-term chronic pain; plus I loathe the effects of medications for it. I'm in love with my brain's abilities and refute the labeling of it as being a disability. Screw that! I'd put my abilities up against most 'modern' people's brains! Plus, I love 'study' and do it EVERY day/night -across countless disciplines. It feels both joyful & wonderful to be so engaged.) A dead tree & it's gnarled/sparde shape is forefront. A more recently dead tree with its bare branches fully intact -is next up the mountainside. A third tree is mostly dead, but not quite. And, midway up this rugged slope are two fully green evergreen trees, in all of their truly hardy beauty. Above this scenario is a long, narrow angled strip of shadow as the mountain & ridge is slowly falling into the end of the day. To me, it balanced my scene to perfection, taking it in.
Angles of a mountainside slope cut upwards, left to right, across this scene as two hardy and short desert evergreen trees cast their shadows downslope -also left to right. The composition is weighted on the left side. The trees are probably cedars, but juniper trees could be correctly observed here in this harsh desert scene. There are some desert grasses & plantlife -but it's so obviously a very dry ridge. The other side (westward) is void of trees. This eastward side gets the slightest amount more of precipitation, and the sparse population of these trees is evidence of this very slight difference!
In a vertical composition, we are looking upon the exact same scene as the previous photograph entails of. I almost always shoot most scenarios in both horizontal and vertical compositions. I usually crop my choices with the camera. Cropping with the camera with an eye out for an interesting setting engages your compositional & perspective skills. These things engages both your mind & heart. They also better engage your audience, post production and/or sharing.
Although it's difficult for me to stand for very long, here I am taking a few shots. Our big, purple Jeep is to my left. Me and our Standard Poodle are centered between two desert evergreen trees (Cedars? Probably. Juniper, perhaps) of in the distance. My partner, this incredibly smart & duty oriented Poodle usually stays close by my side when he detects that I might need his body to lean upon. The sun's getting low in the sky, and our shadows are long! My wife took the picture of my doing such the same!

Our picture is of a small butterfly resting on the rough edge of a concrete back doorstep. The surface beneath it is coarse and uneven, speckled in shades of grey, black, and faint mossy tones, like weathered stone that has seen years of rain and foot fall. The butterfly itself is striking against this muted background. Its wings are mostly dark, almost black but lit with vivid, glowing streaks of red that run along the edges and form small rounded spots near the tips. The red appears almost luminous, as if catching a shaft of sunlight, giving the insect a delicate, ember-like glow. Its body is slim and dark, with fine antennae extending forward. The wings are partially open, angled slightly upward, as if it has just landed or is about to lift off again. The lighting is soft and natural, with a shallow focus that blurs the surrounding concrete. This draws all attention to the butterfly, making it feel isolated and fragile. Like a brief, vivid moment of life paused on an otherwise dull, hardened surface. Finally, our picture is finished with a white border frame.

A dense Irish forest fills the frame, captured in muted, almost monochrome tones that lean toward deep blue-grey. The scene feels cool, quiet, and slightly shadowed, as if taken on an overcast day or in fading light. Tall, slender trees rise straight upward throughout the image, their trunks dark and textured. Many are bare or sparsely covered, with thin branches reaching out in tangled directions. One large, low branch stretches horizontally across the upper third of the image, almost like a natural arch, its rough surface lightly dusted with pale lichen or moss. The forest floor is uneven and richly layered. In the foreground, ferns spread outward with delicate, feathery leaves. Behind them, a thick carpet of low shrubs, moss, and undergrowth creates a soft, textured blanket across the ground. Fallen branches and small logs lie scattered, partially hidden among the greenery. Toward the middle of the scene, the land dips slightly, forming a shallow hollow or natural depression, adding depth. The trees become more tightly packed in the background, fading into a misty, dim haze that obscures the distance. There are no signs of people or paths. Just a still, slightly eerie woodland atmosphere, where the silence feels deep and uninterrupted. Finally our picture is finished with a white border frame.
Evening #BlueSky 🫖 Come with me now as we enter deep into an Irish forest. Hold my hand!! 🫣 Have a gorgeous rest of the day friends ☺️

Our picture shows a freshly roasted leg of lamb resting in a deep, black roasting tray. The lamb is large and slightly curved, with the long bone extending out from one end like a handle. The surface of the meat is richly browned and glistening, with a crisp, textured skin. It’s speckled with coarse black pepper, golden salt crystals, and scattered sprigs of roasted herb of rosemary and thyme some of which have darkened and curled from the heat. Small bits of garlic appear embedded in the surface, caramelised to a deep golden colour. The outer crust looks slightly crackled and crisp, while the meat beneath appears tender and juicy, with a sheen of rendered fat catching the light. At the base of the tray, a shallow pool of dark, glossy juices and fat has collected, reflecting the warm tones of the roast. The background is softly out of focus, but you can make out part of a kitchen setting perhaps a pot or utensil suggesting the lamb has just come out of the oven and is ready to rest before carving. The overall impression is warm, savoury, and inviting, with the rich aroma of roasted meat and herbs almost imaginable from the image alone. And finally, today’s picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Our shows a wooden sailing boat displayed indoors, viewed through a large pane of glass inside a bright, modern museum space. The boat itself is long and narrow, made of weathered, pale wood with visible grain and small metal fittings along its side. A thick rope runs along the edge, tied neatly, suggesting its use in rough conditions. The hull curves gently upward, and the boat rests securely on supports just above a smooth, grey floor. Above the boat, a simple mast rises with a small, off-white sail stretched between spars. The sail looks slightly worn and utilitarian rather than decorative, more functional than elegant. Hinting at harsh journeys rather than leisure. The setting is striking: the boat is housed inside a tall glass atrium filled with natural light. Strong steel beams crisscross diagonally overhead and along the sides, creating a geometric frame around the vessel. Behind the structure, part of an older brick wall with arched windows is visible, blending historic architecture with modern design. Reflections in the glass add a layered effect. Outside trees, bare branches reaching upward are mirrored across the boat’s surface, along with a vivid blue sky. These reflections overlap the boat, making it feel as though it exists between indoors and outdoors, past and present. In the lower left corner, a blurred fingertip is visible, slightly pink and out of focus, suggesting the photo was taken up close against the glass or by a doofus 🙄 Overall, the scene feels calm but powerful: a sturdy, humble boat preserved in a bright, airy space, carrying a quiet sense of endurance and history tied to polar exploration. And finally, this abomination is finished off with a simple white border frame.
