After posting the video the other day about the scrappy area that used to be lawn I went out to take photos of insects and the activity was incredible. Here's the strangest looking Planthopper I've ever seen. It's very small. There's an ant in one photo for size comparison.

A pale planthopper clings vertically to a smooth green trumpet vine stem. Its light-colored wings are folded over its body, appearing semi-translucent and delicately veined.

What I thought were raindrops dripping from a trumpet vine, were actually a line of planthoppers - strange little sap-suckers that jump with extraordinary precision.
