they were in the #ATS together, was writing to her boyfriend in the #RoyalEngineers and asked, a lot later, if Mum would like a penpal. And that man became my wonderful Dad. He was not back until 1947 as he was in #Palestine and contracted TB there so convalesced in S Africa. They married in 1948 ❤️

Just spent a cracking few days with the Dutch #Genietroepen in the N of the Netherlands. So many similarities with the #RoyalEngineers &, of course, the odd #Bailey!
