As we sat outside at the farm cafe, this bird was displaying to a female Wren. There was a thick hedge encased with Ivy - it looked like the perfect location, location, location for a nest.

These are perhaps not #BestOfTheMonth but I did like them. Carolina wrens collecting nest material, which they wouldn't take to the nest site as long as I was watching: very cautious birds! And well coordinated in getting sturdy and soft nest stuff

A small Carolina Wren with bright, reddish-brown upperparts, warm, buffy-orange underparts, and barred wings and tail. It also has a bold, long white stripe above each eye and a white throat. This bird's ruffled feathers were pressed against the side of a green wire suet feeder with a green roof. There was reddish-brown suet in the feeder. There's a blurred background of white snow and a few brown branches. Seen at Stony Brook WS in Norfolk, Massachusetts.

Here we have Walter Wren, looking for some tasty titbits to eat, well tasty to him that is.
Next to turn us was Wilma Wren, who was studying how Walter was rummaging for the food for Wendy's surprise party. When Walter spotted her he shouted for her to give him some help because it was nearly time for Wendy to arrive.
Then after several minutes another of the relatives turned up, this time it was Wilma's brother who goes by the name of 'Will-I-Wren' who is famous for his songs 'Wrenalicious, Wren Humps & Wrens Gotta Feeling' which he was going to perform at Wendy's party.
Then it was Wendy Wren, Walters daughters time to turn up (she is Wilma & Wren-I-Am's niece), and yes she is always late to the party, i think she just likes to annoy them all, although she always says she was stuck in traffic and didn't have any signal to send them a Tweet ;-)
Now for #WrensDay and a set from Warnham Nature Reserve near Horsham. There were lots of them around on this visit, giving me plenty of opportunities to capture lots of photos of the loveable birds.

Native to southeastern Australia, Acacia verticillata (syn. Mimosa verticillata) is much planted in restorative Landcare plantings because it provides safe cover for little birds. In this it rewards planters many times over. Its common name of "Prickly Moses" is derived from its former classification (and common naming of many Acacia species) as 'Mimosa'. Just be wary of those spines, especially on dead wood!
#Acacia verticillata (firstly Mimosa verticillata, hence its common Australian name "prickly Moses") is one of those plants you recoil from planting because of its downright physical brutality. Nor is it "beautiful". Yet its spiny, protective branches are why superb blue #wrens reside on our place.

A small, cinnamon-colored Carolina Wren with golden tan undersides, a bold, white eyebrow stripe above the eye, a white chin and throat, and wings and long, perky tail with subtle, darker barring. The bird's beak is sturdy and has a slight downward curve at the end. He's just going into the log shed to inspect his nest and make sure all is okay with the property - he makes frequent small adjustments - snagging, as it's known in the trade.
He would dearly love to sell the home to a passing female.
