Allergen-induced airway matrix remodeling in mice can be prevented or reversed by targeting chitinase-like proteins Allergic airway matrix remodeling occurs independently of IL-13 and IL-17A and is driven instead by chitinase-like proteins.

Now in #Science #Immunology, @drtesutherland.bsky.social & al report chitinase-like proteins (CLPs) make distinct contributions to airway pathology independent of #IL13- & #IL17 –mediated signaling in 🐀 #asthna model! CLPs orchestrate airway #ECM remodeling, & can be both protective & detrimental!

Extremely happy to see our work out in #ScienceImmunology. We show allergen-induced ECM remodelling occurs independently of IL-13 or IL-17 driven inflammation. Rather chitinase-like proteins drive airway ECM accumulation & inhibition of Ym1 can remarkably reverse it. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

An unexpected mechanism regulates the immune response during parasitic infections A discovery by ULiège researchers on Virtual Memory T Cells and their activation during parasitic infections in mice

Researchers have just identified a previously unknown mechanism that helps regulate the body's immune response to parasitic infections. This discovery could pave the way for new treatments to better control infections and inflammatory diseases. @science.org

Super happy to share our new study now published in #Science #Immunology - www.science.org/doi/10.1126/.... Congrats to first author Bin Yang✨. #IL-4 expand Virtual Memory T cells (TVM) which 'borrow' the normally B-cell restricted CD22 for regulating their activation during #helminth infection.

In this study, we used scRNAseq and flow in SLOs to show that 1️⃣ CD22 is induced specifically on TVM upon IL-4 stimulation during #helminth infection, 2️⃣ CD22+ TVM have a self-reactive potential, 3️⃣ CD22 reliably identifies IL-4-induced TVM to further study their function, 4️⃣ CD22+ TVM are regulatory
