A public health perspective of SARS-CoV-2 evolution and surveillance strategies in Germany from 2020 to 2023 - Communications Medicine Oh, Hölzer et al., discuss the multidisciplinary approach used for monitoring the genomic and virological evolution of SARS-CoV-2 during the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications on public health in Germany. They emphasize the need for continuous surveillance and adaptation of public health strategies to address evolving viral threats.

New review highlights #SARS-CoV-2 evolution and longstanding #GenomicSurveillance in Germany, emphasising the need for adaptive #PublicHealth strategies for pandemic preparedness.

Agree, but I'd add as a useful pattern introducing consecutive numbers into names as a clearer alternative than a timestamp. Also you can combine those with timestamps if you add a new version and you need to keep both.

HLA export by melanoma cells decoys cytotoxic T cells to promote immune evasion Melanoma cells escape immune surveillance by releasing MHC-antigen-loaded large EVs, known as melanosomes, that directly engage and impair CD8+ T cell receptors.

#WeekendRead! #SmartTumor #EveryCellIsAnImmuneCell! Levy & (many) friends show @cp-cell.bsky.social that melanoma tumors release large extracellular vesicles #melanosomes decorated with MHC-I & high affinity tumor associated antigens which subvert cytotoxic T cells! www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

Lymphodepleting chemotherapy potentiates neoantigen-directed T cell therapy by enhancing antigen presentation Sagie et al. identify a KRAS.G12V-specific TCR and show that lymphodepleting chemotherapy enhances antigen presentation via immunoproteasome activation and HLA-I upregulation. Together, these changes synergize to improve T cell-mediated tumor killing in multiple models and highlight the potential of optimized chemotherapy to augment adoptive cell therapy efficacy.

Protein language models excel at generating functional yet remarkably diverse artificial sequences.

They however fail to naturally sample rare datapoints, like very high activities.

In our new preprint, we show that RL can solve this without the need for additional data:

It took four days from submission to publication, and nearly five years from publication to retraction. After campaigning by many, many scientists, and an investigation by Elsevier, an infamous paper on hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment has been retracted. 🧪

«Científico», una palabra inventada por españoles que en primer lugar se usó para hablar de una mujer La palabra apareció en un libro de Juan de Mena en el siglo XVI y fue popularizada por William Whewell en el XIX. La primera persona descrita por ella fue Mary Somerville

Interesting! From what I find it was in a book by Juan de Mena, las Trezientas in 1566 and later on by Manuel Martin in 1788.
