Day 17: #ArchiveStorage #Archive30
We are very fortunate to now have a purpose-built archive facility, however in the past storage arrangements were rather more vulnerable than they are today!

Day 16: #ArchiveMyth #Archive30
Whilst we do not operate in quite the same way as a library or museum, we do provide a public service for the local community and overseas researchers.

Day 15: #ArchiveConservation #Archive30
We are currently digitising more records in this series relating to wildlife protection and conservation, which will be available soon!

Day 14: #unusualarchives #Archive30
Many files and correspondence in our collections document the unusual challenges faced for the administration of a remote island community, and the solutions they devised to overcome these challenges.

Day 13: #ColourfulArchives
Our map collection contains some colourful maps and plans, especially those depicting the different farm boundaries. This example is from 1950.
@arascot.bsky.social @falklandsinuk.bsky.social
Day 10: #CataloguingCollections
Once a record is accessioned into our collections, we follow a process to catalogue each item. This makes it easier for ourselves and researchers to locate information on particular topics or time periods.
@arascot.bsky.social @falklandsinuk.bsky.social
Day 9: #SportArchives
We have an active sporting community in the Falklands, however in the 1920's the Athletic Club faced some unique challenges to playing their weekend game of football!
@arascot.bsky.social @falklandsinuk.bsky.social
Day 8: #archivepast
The JCNA letterbooks provide a fascinating insight into the government administration from the 1840's onwards, particularly the challenges faced whilst establishing Stanley as the principle settlement.
@arascot.bsky.social @falklandsinuk.bsky.social
Day 7: #ArchiveAnimals
Whilst we hold material concerning the diverse wildlife of the Falkland Islands, we also have an Agricultural section which gives an insight into early farm management and importation of livestock: nationalarchives.gov.fk/online.../ag...

Day 6: #SomethingSmall
Our photographic collections contain some really tiny photographs that are best appreciated when viewed through a magnifying glass!
@arascot.bsky.social @falklandsinuk.bsky.social
Day 2: #archivebuildings
At the JCNA we have a substantial collection of maps and plans, including government buildings, street maps, admiralty charts, farm boundaries, and settlement buildings.

#exploreyourarchives Day 3- #medieval
This topic was a little tricky for us, bearing in mind that the earliest records in our collection date from the 1830's-40's, so we have approached the theme from a slightly different angle...

#exploreyourarchive Day 2 #beauty
For today's theme, we highlight a Falkland-born celebrity of the early 1900's, whose portrait features in several photograph albums in our collection.
