Imagine a food bank giving food to kids at 12-noon who ate breakfast, will eat supper & have meals lined up the rest of the month but refusing to give food to kids who haven’t eaten in two days and have no food options in at least the next month. Now look at how drs treat #AcutePain vs #ChronicPain.

The “logic” behind using “ #PainKillers “ for #AcutePain (short term pain that will go away if treated or not) but refusing to do so for appropriate #ChronicPainPatients who live in nonstop nonfatal excruciating to debilitating #pain is just not right, IMO.

#Opioids can be legit #medicine for some #ChronicPain patients IF drs properly evaluate, educate, prescribe & track #PainMed use. No politician/insurer should be allowed to dictate how drs treat their patients. #PainIsPain. Treating #AcutePain but refusing to treat chronic pain is discriminatory IMO

Interventions aimed at boosting #distresstolerance may improve outcomes among patients with #acutepain and #substanceusedisorders.
