A crested greebe, swimming on calm water, below a distorted reflection. The bird is pictured in breeding plumage with white long neck, black-brown body, a black and red ruff below the head and a two parted black crest.
From this angle their crest looks like a set of big, bushy eyebrows, giving them lots of gravitas… #birdoftheday #reflections

A male cinnamon teal duck swimming in very calm water, so calm he is clearly reflected. He is a beautiful shiny rusty brown with a black bill, red eye, and black back and butt. The water is so clear you can see his leggie underwater.

Photo by Kort Duce A great blue heron fishes at a state park in Longmont, Colorado. In this vertical color photograph, a heron stands in mid-leg–deep water while foraging along St. Vrain State Park. It faces the camera with a slight left profile visible, its head and beak angled downward in an intense, focused gaze. Its reflection is nearly perfect in the still water. The background features a mix of last year’s cattails and fresh new growth.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme from @robcrank68.bsky.social is #Reflections, any bird reflection. The Alt Theme is #Robins.
Mike likes this theme, so there was a lot of choice! I'm going with the Great Crested Grebe from April last year at Kerkini, Northern Greece.

Two white mute swans facong away from each other with a pair of mallards in front to left, both reflected in thawing ice on lake.
For #BirdOfTheDay theme, #Reflections, here are two mute swans and a pair of mallards refelected in the thawing lake ice during winter. I like the visual effect when the surface of the ice thaws but remains solid for birds to stand on, around the areas the birds manage to keep unfrozen.

A photograph taken on a grey but bright enough day. Of a Little Egret stalking its way around the edge of a lake that forms part of an East Kent nature reserve. It’s form creating a pleasant (sort of) S shape echoed in its reflection. It’s brilliant white popping a little against the silver of the water.

A pair of Gadwall swimming across a lake at a sunrise. The birds are centre frame with the male to the left and the female to the right. They are swimming across a golden lake at sunrise with their wakes the only waves on the surface. Their reflections are visible in front of them and a line of reed are visible at the shore in the background; also lit up in gold

A medium-sized waterfowl with mottled brown and grey plumage stands in shallow, calm water, looking down at a small turtle. The bird has a distinctive white, teardrop-shaped patch around its dark eye and a small crest on the back of its head. Its reflection is clearly visible in the water among floating autumn leaves and white feathers. To the right, the small, dark turtle is partially submerged, with its head and one leg raised as it faces the bird. The scene is bathed in warm, late-afternoon sunlight.

Gary Gadwall was loving his reflection so much he decided to kiss it, but quickly looked around to make sure nobody spotted him doing it. Sadly he then spotted the paparazzi had got some shots for the 'Daily Squak', making him really angry at them. Captured at Rodley Nature Reserve, near Leeds. Rodley is run by a board of trustees and a registered charity.
Caren Coot was just ambling her way across the water when she spotted the photographer and decided to head under the water. She put this down to not having done her make-up that morning, and she only likes being captured looking her best. Captured at Rodley Nature Reserve, near Leeds. Rodley is run by a board of trustees and a registered charity.
Ollie Oystercatcher was rushing around like a lunatic, which brought him to the attention of the 'Water Patrol' for speeding. Due to it being an accident black spot the 'Water Patrol' were very strict when it comes to speeding. Ollie tried to explain he was late getting home from his date and his mum had already got his tea ready. Sadly for Ollie he still got a speeding ticket, and a note for his mum so he didn't get in trouble with her, but they say they wouldn't pass his information on to the 'Flying Squad' who were much stricter when it comes to the rules of the water.. Captured at Rodley Nature Reserve, near Leeds. Rodley is run by a board of trustees and a registered charity.
Rita Robin was busy having a wash so didn't spot the paparazzi getting some rude snaps until it was too late, once spotting them she started berating them about giving a lady some privacy. Sadly for Rita she knew she would end up in the 'Daily Squak' the next day, which wasn't right but she knew it would give her some free publicity and increase her followers on social media. Captured at Rodley Nature Reserve, near Leeds. Rodley is run by a board of trustees and a registered charity.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #JKLMNOP so that any bird that has any of these letters at the beginning of their first or second names qualifies. I offer this photo of 14 Black Oystercatchers enjoying a nice day in Kodiak, Alaska.
A male ringneck pheasant surrounded by a spring landscape in Western Washington The birds curved beak is white and there’s a white stripe along its crown. It has red wattles on each side of its face with alert brown eyes peering from those wattles. This photo, taken on a cloudy day shows the bird’s neck long and very dark down to its white collar. From beneath its collar, its breast is a deep rust brown that runs all the way to its vent. There are lighter mottled feathers on its side and wings. On its back are feathers arrayed in layers of every earth tone imaginable. The pheasant’s tail is barred and is the length of this bird making it about 2 feet long in total. Its legs are black with very powerful claws.
