A simple arched doorway is the entrance to Bran Castle (aka Dracula's Castle) in Romania. The castle is in disrepair with peeling walls and paint, discoloration. On the wall above the lantern is text that has mostly come off, so it's too difficult to read. The lantern is a fairly simple black iron lantern with a cover that has circles in it to protect the glass. The castle has a red tile roof.

A somewhat dark room except for sunlight streaming in through an arched window that has a potted violet on the window sill (I posted a photo of the window alone yesterday). The room has a brown couch with large, plump cushions. Near to it is an armchair that is a dark rusty color. There are a couple of small pictures on the cream colored stucco walls, and another picture is propped on a wooden easel in the corner of the room. Above the easel is a wall fixture with two candle lights. The trim of the room is very dark brown wood, as is the floor. Bran Castle, Transylvania region of Romania. Queen Marie of Greater Romania lived in the castle. The castle's mystique is entirely due to Bram Stoker's fictional book "Dracula." The author may have seen pictures of this castle and used the setting in his book, but he never visited. Vlad the Impaler also did not live here, though he may have been held prisoner here. Funny how stories develop and evolve.

A simple arched window deeply set in the wall, has an arched top and window panes that form a vertical, religious cross. The panes have very dark wood frames, and the dark wood continues as a wide window sill. A violet in a terracotta pot sits on the window sill, and the strong light from the window has it brilliantly illuminated, creating backlit petals. The walls are white plaster.
