Looking like an art deco piece, an Anise Swallowtail butterfly with random-shaped panes in yellow with blue dots and pointed ‘tails’ on the trailing edge of its wings hangs on a cluster of delicate lavender six-petalled flowers. It’s thin, black proboscis is stuck into the throat of one flower

That is NOT a Monarch butterfly (not on No Kings Day!), but rather, an lovely, art deco-looking Anise Swallowtail.

Only 6 months until prime butterfly season in July, when the perennial herbs are attracting them.
