This week I was blessed by a visitation of the Fiery Searcher, #Calosoma scrutator. An absolute living jewel of a #beetle. It was also very curious and spent a good 5 minutes hanging out on my shirt 🥰

The fattened dome-like Elytra (The beetle's hardened fore wings) are a brilliant metallic green. The strong legs, splayed on either side of the body are a dark reddish purple.

Last night was a good night at the light station. One of my favorite Ground #Beetles, #Calosoma scrutator made an appearance. I love this beetle so much 😻😻😻 The first photo is a focus stack.
