Friday Night Big Central Roundup: Streaks, perfect seasons go by the boards as No. 2 Woodbridge, No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas, No. 7 Sayreville all fall; Bernards takes mantle of league’s longest win streak with win over GL If much of the regular season to this point, or at least until last week, was about consistency, the last two weeks have been anything but. Last week's big news was No. 1 Phillipsburg dropping its first game of the season, falling 21-0 to St. Joseph-Metuchen in a Saturday matinee on the road. And what did the Falcons do with that ranking?

Quickie playoff update: Key takeaways and how Saturday games affected Big Central teams Gridiron New Jersey has come out with the official Week 6 playoff standings, and after Saturday's games, there was still more shuffling going on. And a little more could take place after Monday, with two West Jersey Football League games scheduled, at least one of which - Camden at Timber Creek - reportedly is related to cases of Coxsackie virus that started at Delsea and delayed their game with Millville from last weekend to this past Monday.

Group 2 playoff chase: Just Bernards, Johnson and Spotswood in the running, with Governor Livingston outside the bubble. Can the Highlanders make it? With a paucity of Group 2 teams in the Big Central Conference to begin with - something that has caused issues for some in the past - just two right now are in the field of 16 in either supersection: Bernards in North 2 and Spotswood in South 2. Quite the contrast with Group 4, with has seven of the eight teams in the North 2 section from the Big Central Conference.

Past midway point of regular season, how are Big Central Division races shaping up? We take a look High school football is different from the college game in many ways, but one in particular is where division games can be scattered all over the schedule. While in college, the non-conference slate is typically reserved for the first few weeks, often "buy games" by smaller school against bigger-time opponents, in high school, they can be anywhere. And the days of superconferences have brought us smaller divisions, where sometimes a champ is decided after just two division games, with an out-of-conference game and several crossovers thrown in the mix.

HALF-AND-HALF! Past midway point of regular season, how are #BigCentral Division races shaping up? We take a look at the six that have been settled, and six still #TBA! #StJoseph #Phillipsburg #Woodbridge #NewProvidence #GovernorLivingston #NJFootball

When they blend together well, the resulting meal can be delicious. And that's a good way to describe the 2024 baseball season for Governor Livingston. With close rivals New Providence coming to town, Governor Livingston looks to avenge two tight losses to Pioneers Two years ago, the game was decided by a touchdown. 2025 Big Central Preview: United Silver Division Just like the Patriot Silver Division - which we previewed yesterday - the United Silver Division of the Big Central Conference also was defined by parity in 2024, for the most part. Three teams shared in the division title, going 3-1, led by Governor Livingston, which was 5-5 overall, and should be right in the mix again this year. South Plainfield has a solid defense, and JFK loses a good deal on defense, but also has much experience back.

But it was a tight race between Governor Livingston, South Plainfield and JFK, as the three ended up tied for first, with the Highlanders beating the Tigers, the Tigers beating JFK and the Mustangs beating Governor Livingston.
