My pleasure. And if the weather permits, I plan to be taking a stroll down your way this weekend or next - when I'm booked in for a Christmas lunch at The Admiral Wells, at Holme. I could do with a brisk stretch!

Some of the 14x #GreatSilverWaterBeetles recorded today as part of our #GreatFen #moth and water #beetle #monitoring. They were attracted to the light traps at 5 sites in the Fen. Now they are all headed back to where they were caught.

I'd love to visit the #GreatFen project from Cambridge, for example, but a 50 minute journey by car would take me as a non-driver 4 hours 30 mins by various buses, with a long hike at the end. Not sure I'd be able to get home again the same day.

Watch out for #Fen tigers on the prowl in the sunshine at the #GreatFen. #ScareChaser #dragonflies are stunning when newly emerged from the water. It's an orange coloration the adult female #insect retains, while the male turns blue! Learn more with me next month. www.wildlifebcn.org/events/2025-...

Glorious frosty walk in the #Fens. Crease Bank looking north to King's Dyke brick yard chimneys and McCains, South intensive agriculture, but this is an industrial landscape transitioning back to nature. Closed brick pits can give way to rich habitat, and south is the #GreatFen project

Favourite find of the day at Holme Fen NNR - a perfect clump of Drumsticks Aulacomnium androgynum, a #moss named after its stalked balls of gemmae, which break off and grow into new plants. Taken on a quick walk before meeting up with #GreatFen volunteers for mince pies!
