Saw this, what I thought a shield bug yesterday. Best fit seemed to be a Spiked shield bug, Picromerus bidens, but doesn't seem spiky enough.

This is apparently a Vancouver Island bumble bee which I didn’t even know was a species. And now I like it even more. PS yes I did see it on Vancouver Island! #invertibrates
A barely inundated sandy pool, a shank of sea weed floating across the foreground. Rock surrounds the left and upper sides of the frame with orange, red and purple starfish clinging, plus green anemones.
A shallow tide pool full of green anemones and purple something. A small bit of seaweed clings to the center. Bits of shell are stuck to anemones out of the water.

Male Banded Demoiselle rests on the seedhead of a grass. Its metallic green/blue colouring shines in the sunlight.
Ruby Tailed Wasp on the top of a fence post, it is tiny but stunningly coloured with iridescent green on the head, metallic blue on the body and ruby red/gold on its abdomen.
Yellow and Black Longhorn Beetle on pink bramble flowers, its long segmented antennae alternate yellow and black sections and it wing cases are yellow with black spots and patches.
Common Blue Damselflies, the male has the female held by the back of her head in his claspers. They are resting on pink bramble flowers.
