In the latest post to be added to our #OnePlaceStudies blog, inspired by our April 2026 blogging and social media prompt #OnePlaceVisitors, Mick Warner looks at The 1921 census and Blackpool. ‘Seasonal adjustments’ to Blackpool’s recorded population did not go down well! #OnePlaceWednesday

#OnePlaceWednesday. Image: Photo showing part of a ‘Bluebell wood’ on April 22nd, 2025. The trees have burst into leaf, and the woodland floor is covered with the lush green leaves, and pretty blue flowers, of English Bluebells. One-Place Studies, where family history and local history unite.
It’s #OnePlaceWednesday! This was the scene one year ago today, just outside my #OnePlaceStudy of Fawsley but within the Fawsley Estate. If you have any OPS pics – or news, views, questions, links or general chat relating to #OnePlaceStudies – share them with the hashtag, at any time today.
Merle Bradford stopped by the museum to pick up our 2025 CCHM History Annual, which features a story about his father written by his brother Lyle. Merle even pointed out the milk truck his dad drove, one he remembers riding in as a kid.

Photo showing the River Severn flowing through the town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire. There are trees on either side of the river in the foreground (the deciduous trees have no leaves), a footbridge crosses the river in the near distance (at a point where the river turns to the right and disappears from view) and many houses and other buildings.
Researching #FamilyHistory, #LocalHistory or a #OnePlaceStudy in #Shropshire? Ancestry has just added a new record set, Shropshire, England, Wills and Probate, 1858-1940. These are registered copies of wills held by Shropshire Archives. Very useful following last year’s Probate Search price hike!
