Has anyone else also watched #PrincessAgents? I watched it but a long time ago and I have a general (positive, if flawed) impression of it, plus a few key scenes have stuck with me, but I don’t remember all the minutiae of characters and plot points. So I need to rewatch that before #Rebirth?

I once clicked on wrong link for #PrincessAgents and suddenly they were all talking with American accents. I almost threw up.

It’s very good, although also quite flawed. (If you like the chemistry in #LegendOfShenLi then you’ll be 🔥🔥 about them in #PrincessAgents.) Unfortunately, it kind of just stops without a proper ending. #Rebirth is a continuation/do-over of sorts.

Time to rewatch #PrincessAgents??

If you haven’t seen #TheLegendofShenli, it’s definitely worth a watch (if you’re a fan of #PrincessAgents, then you’ll like the leads!) - as is #AncientLovePoetry (though it is a little slow to get started for some people)

The plagiarism scandal certainly affected any immediate sequel to #PrincessAgents (the author was judged guilty of copying storylines & characters from other sources), but afaik the new wholly recast #Rebirth drama was given the go-ahead by authorities, & I haven’t heard of any major issues with it

For serious chemistry in a much older, and somewhat flawed show, I’d maybe suggest #PrincessAgents. It’s kind of a classic and I rec it - just with caveats. @jamesdmac.bsky.social has views on this one too.

The other business drama of hers which is passable is #MyBargainQueen - it’s not amazing by any means, but I enjoyed it, & she has a nice connection with the ML (played by Lin Gengxin, the actor from #PrincessAgents & #TheLegendofShenLi)

Zhao Liying - like all actors - has some weaker roles, of which #Fei is one.

But she’s an absolute star of cdrama. She’s brilliant & subtle in #TheStoryofMinglan, perfect for the role in #LegendofLuZhen, & convincingly gritty in #WildBloom, & pretty badass in #PrincessAgents & #TheLegendofShenLi

After the angsty #wuxia #PrincessAgents, I'm having lots fun with #xianxia #cdrama #LegendofShenli ! Really love t bickerings between Shen Li 沈離 the proud prince 王爺 of the spirit realm 靈界 and Xing Zhi 行止 the supreme deity from outer heavens 天外天!

Btw, I think the writer is the same one for #Feud (a xianxia drama I’ve been really enjoying), & she’s also the original creator of the #PrincessAgents & #Rebirth dramas

So she’s clearly a talented lady. They shouldn’t have overlooked her input

I actually missed this one, but an e-commerce company called ‘VIPshop’ found an innovative way to integrate their product in the historical-wuxia drama #PrincessAgents, by creating a series of mock-up shops called ‘VIP Pavilion’ 🙂

But despite all this, #PrincessAgents was still an outstandingly successful drama. It’s been watched billions of times over, & helped to make Zhao Liying the name she is in dramaland today

It doesn’t mean I am happy with the ending, but there’s more to a drama than 1 episode (the final ep!)

I don’t agree with this assessment. The original creator of #PrincessAgents has also written the sequel #Rebirth which continues the story & is due to come out later this year (or beginning of next)

As a screenwriter she wasn’t responsible for the ending of #DemonHunter’sRomance (it was an AI);

Yes, #EmpressesinthePalace is the real OG historical or palace drama (at least for the post 2010 era). It’s also still addictively watchable, as is #Yanxi (both are faves of mine!)

I dropped both #Ashes & #EternalLove, but loved #EternalLoveofDream. I didn’t finish #PrincessAgents but loved #ShenLi

Yes, they were so relaxed with each other - you could tell they felt familiar together (after #PrincessAgents). It was one of the more mature & thoughtful xianxia relationships I’ve watched (with lovely humour too)

I’ve heard it described both ways: as running parallel and being a continuation. At this far remove from #PrincessAgents (which was 2017 I think), I find it hard to believe it’ll be a straight sequel. I guess we’ll find out when it lands!

#Rebirth is the remake(?) of - or re-adaptation of the same original novel as - #PrincessAgents, right? I watched PA way back when and it’s intense. Well worth watching (albeit with its flaws) - for the chemistry alone! - but it sort of just ends without finishing things up. No proper resolution.

A produção e o roteiro de #PrincessAgents são tão bons, mas daí eles colocam aquele papagaio de cgi de péssima qualidade (que mais parece um desenho animado) e quebra toda a seriedade no negócio. Algo totalmente dispensável ao enredo.

It is a standout fantasy drama with signature performances from Zhao Liying & Lin Gengxin

Btw, there is a #PrincessAgents sequel on its way, but it has a different cast, so probably ought to be seen on its own terms (when it comes out)
