The flame nebula to the top is 1350 lightyears away. The brightest star here is Alnitak of Orions belt, it is a Blue supergiant with 2 other stars in close orbit and is 1260 lightyears away. Underneath in a veil of red, stretching a vast 3.5 lightyears, is the beautiful horsehead nebula. And is furthest away at a nice 1375 lightyears from Earth.

Orion climbed high as night deepened. I targeted Alnitak on Orion's belt with my telescope to capture photons from the surrounding Flame and Horsehead Nebulae.
The Horsehead Nebula, shown to me in a book by my dad when I was young, remains my true inspiration.

Tiny grains of cosmic dust could be key to sparking life in space. Prof Martin McCoustra has shown dust helps simple molecules form life’s building blocks even at -190°C.

Cosmic dust is helping scientists track 30,000 years of Arctic sea ice! 🛰️ Less helium-3 in sediments = more ice. As ice vanishes, ecosystems & geopolitics shift. A stellar clue to Earth's changing climate. #Arctic #ClimateChange #SpaceDust

a figure with long flowing hair, two big fox ears and a tail, looks into the distance in a profile view, she's almost completely black if not for her visible eye and fingers.

her right leg, right ear and the portion of her tail going behind her, instead of being black, are coloured with deep blues and white dots and stars

her right arm extends, seemingly bending air like water, and a trail of it becomes dark, outer space appears with stars and planets

her hair flows behind her too, like water.

A text appears beneath the outer space-stream: We are made of the same space dust celestial bodies are made.

A stunning image of the Witch Head Nebula (IC 2118), a reflection nebula illuminated by the bright star Rigel in the constellation Orion. The nebula's eerie, witch-like shape is strikingly visible against the backdrop of countless stars. The blue hues are a result of dust scattering blue light more efficiently than red, a phenomenon similar to why Earth's sky appears blue. The image showcases the beauty and mystery of deep space.

So nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I don't really buy into this current "active mushroom" fad. If they were psychoactive they'd be illegal to sell in the UK.

However a guy at work suggested I try these instead of my usual coffee. So I got a morning and […]

The trail, resembling a tiny carrot, shows the path of a dust particle (about a thousandth of an inch in diameter) possibly originating from a comet, offering insights into the early Solar System.

Hubble Space Telescope image of evaporating dark molecular clouds in the Carina Nebula. Energetic light and stellar winds are breaking apart these dust clouds, which ironically often birth the very stars that destroy them. The structures shown span a few light-months, within the larger Carina Nebula (30 light-years across), located 7,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Carina.

A stunning image of M78, a reflection nebula in the constellation Orion. Its eerie blue glow is highlighted by dark dust columns, which reflect the light of recently formed blue stars. M78 is part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex and is approximately five light-years across. This image shows M78 as it appeared 1600 years ago.

A stunning telescopic view of a cometary globule, NGC 6231, silhouetted against a vibrant star field in the constellation Scorpius. This dark nebula, spanning nearly 40 light-years, appears as an ominous dark tower, with reddish glowing hydrogen gas bordering it, illuminated by intense ultraviolet radiation from nearby hot stars. Blue reflection nebulae hint at stars embedded within the dust and gas. The image reveals the beauty and complexity of star formation within this 5,000 light-year distant cosmic cloud.
