I'm not sure if #SungkyunkwanScandal aged well, but I still hold many fond feelings for my first sageuk drama. A mix between Coffee Prince and Boys Over Flowers. Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In steal the spotlight. Second lead syndrome is real.

There’s the trope you also see in these dramas where the ml falls in love with the fl, but struggles because she’s a ‘he’. #SungkyunkwanScandal is a much lighter & more comic kdrama classic in this genre

In #SungkyunkwanScandal (a sister of this drama) it was a similar story (for me at least). I liked the ml, & he was clearly the ml, but I was secretly rooting for one of the 2nd leads (it was also a quartet).
In #CheckInHanyang it feels similarly inevitable. But honestly I’m rooting for the quartet
I do enjoy fusion historicals and not fussy as much with exact history 🫶 yet somehow I couldn't get into it. I'll definitely try again and continue with ep 3.

If you’re a fan of fusion historicals (& not fussy about historical exactitude - Joseon #KingtheLand!) you may like this. It has a #SungkyunkwanScandal vibe, where the fl is cross dressing to infiltrate a hotel/academy & the other mls form a bond to protect her. It is more mysterious though.

A fave, #SungkyunkwanScandal (2010) about a girl who disguises herself as a man to get into the famed learning institute. Starring a young #SongJoongKi as a charming rascal scholar, this award-winning drama contains pretty scandalous (see what I did there?) language for its day.
Just started watching #SungkyunkwanScandal and it's really fun! With fetus #ParkMinYoung, #SongJoongKi and #YooAhIn. A bit dated which you'd expect from a drama made in 2010 but the pacing in the first episode was great. - Alisa
