Two charts, one on top of the other. First shows the disconnect between productivity and wages since 1948, which began in the 1970s and worsened ever since (showing wages should be more than 200% higher than they are, but aren't because capitalists stopped sharing gains with workers). Second shows the rise in share of income going to the top 10% and the decline of unionization, which fall flat in the 1940s, and separate in the 1970s (with income share rising for the top 10% as unions decline), exactly matching the first graph.

The economic trend that worries me most via Robert Reich — Friends, I was secretary of labor 30 years ago when the U.S. economy was producing an average of 200,000 new jobs a month. I remember holding news conferences on “jobs days” each month. I felt confident about the strength of the economy. What worried me then was that the new jobs didn’t pay well. (A disgruntled worker once called out to me, “Sure, Mr. Secretary, lots of new jobs. I’m doing three of them to make ends meet!”) Last Wednesday, the Labor Department reported that the United States pro

The U.S. economy once created 200,000 jobs a month, but back then, the real concern was low wages—today, that trend still lingers as workers juggle multiple jobs just to get by.

Monetary Transmission Is Both Alive And Dead Like Schrödinger’s Cat Liquidity is plentiful, rates are low, yet credit growth is muted. Monetary transmission in India remains a paradox that defies easy solutions.

Is India’s monetary transmission like Schrödinger’s cat — both alive and dead?

Despite rate cuts & ₹9T liquidity, credit growth remains muted. Weak real wages & tepid demand are the culprits.

3/4 The crisis is real: crowded, increasingly complex classrooms strain educators whilst wage stagnation drives future teachers away from choosing education as a lifelong career. The system buckles under government neglect and underfunding.

“‘Nobody wants to work’” ignores the data: productivity is up 60%+ since 1979, but wages barely kept pace! FT workers often can’t afford rent in any U.S. state. It’s not laziness; it’s a broken labor model. #LaborCrisis #WageStagnation #WorkReform

Why Are Workers Getting Less While CEOs Get Richer Despite Rising Productivity? --- Income inequality in the United States has been growing for decades, and workers are getting a smaller share of the country's income even though productivity is rising. wage has stayed at $7.25 since 2009 and has lost 29% of its value because of inflation. This creates a tough situation where low wages stagnate even as companies make more money and become more productive[8]. The result is a big gap between rich and poor, with executive pay soaring and worker income shrinking. Despite rising corporate profits, most workers see little benefit, leading to growing inequality and economic hardship for many Americans[4][8]. The reason the #boomer set is so convinced we could all buy homes or pay for college if we'd just stop the take-out and Starbucks is because it's their experience that you can buy a home for the same price as a year of take-out and coffee.

Because you could.

We are short staffed daily. BUT wages that were $24.95/hr in 2010 were a good wage.

Our state minimum wage (MW) is $18.00, that $24.95 is not even 1.5 MW.

The MOST buying power I EVER had was 4X minimum wage in 1990. I now make $40/hr (most ever) but barely 2x MW.
