1min of frantic froggie fornication from today. I put a security camera by the pond so I could see what they're up to. What a perv! A lull in Sunday soundscape of traffic, drills, and hedge trimmers, allowed me to hear some croaking. Peering at the pond revealed these two in amplexus. Just over a fortnight away from when the first #frog spawn usually appears, not long to go.

It's a portrait photo in 16:9 format, so tall and thin. The right hand side of the frame bisects the bees face, head on. He has an orange, and pale yellow hairy face with dark black jaw. At the top of his head the hairs are less dense showing his occilli, small little light sensors that help him understand what's going on around him. His eye is like an elongated hemisphere, made up of lots of tiny lenses which are just about clear. It is framed on its left hand side by the hairs at the back of his head, giving it an impression of wearing a furry head dress. Slightly furhter out the dark black foreleg is just in focus as it is folded back underneath his body.

When I cleaned out the bee nests in Oct this ♂️ Orange Vented Mason #bee (correct me if I'm wrong!) was in a tube, having died at the back. A landscape macro photo of a butterfly wing. It is close enough to show the individual scales that make up the wing surface, and so looks like a pixellated image. The wing section is predominantly red, with some black splodges that contrast highly. There is one section of light blue scales, and the wing edge has a white lining. The wing is quite tattered.

A pale yellow spider, with some tonal variation in stripes on its body, resting on some small purple flowers (which collectively make up one flower head on a buddliea plant). Its front legs are curved into its mouth as it manipulates a small fly it has caught.

[it's ANOTHER Sloe Bug]
