A close up photo of two red mason bees mating, whilst perched on a blue muscari flower head. The photo is portrait in orientation, with the muscari flowers on the lef side of the frame. The flower head is made up of what look like littlel blue barrels, hanging downwards, with the petals slightly paler at the liip. The bees are facing up, and are viewed side on. The male is clasping the back of the female, and has an orange/red fluffy body with darker stripes. He has pale orange hairs on his face, and antennae which are noticeably longer that the femails. Although the female is larger in size all that can really be seen of her is her black head and eyes.
I'm slowly starting to feel better after the removal of my disagreeable appendix. Managed 10mins in the garden, to appreciate the ☀️. Not up to managing the camera, but used my phone to snap these two Red Mason #solitarybees having a quickie. #invertebrates #wildlifefrommywindow
