A handsome gray and white bird is perched on a branch, with snow-covered conifers in the background. The upper parts are charcoal gray. The belly is snow white. The bird has dark eyes, a small, pale bill, and a very long tail. This is a Dark-eyed Junco, part of the sparrow family. This species has been nicknamed a "snowbird" due to its presence in the U.S. during winter. This bird mostly feeds on the ground, which doesn’t always make for a nice background, so I was lucky to get him on a tree.
