Bagworm - a type of caterpillar - encased in it's cocoon, with is silk with a surrounding armor of tiny twigs. In this case, several dried brown leaves are also integrated. The caterpillar's head and feet are not visible, but are exposes at the upper portion of the cocoon, as it is climbing up a black porch frame beam.
Same bagworm caterpillar (cocoon) from earlier - several hours later the caterpillar is now hanging perpendicular from a porch beam. But still slowly moving, searching for the ideal spot to attach and metamporphosize.
Spotted this dude climbing the frame of our porch door a few hours ago. Now crossing a porch "window" horizontal beam. Hasn't yet decided where to attach for metamorphosis.
I've never seen a #Bagworm integrate leaves into it's cocoon before.
