Ladies golfing at Dunbar GC

Whilst the ladies were concentrating over their putts at #DunbarGC this week, I was enjoying the sound of the 1st #chiffchaffs in the adjacent estate woodlands. Another sign that spring is progressing … & another excuse for my hopeless putting ⛳️

The chiffchaff is one of the only animals that just goes around saying its own name all day, like a bird with a personal branding obsession. Imagine if we did that 😆

Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) in the morning light sitting on a branch between some small seed pods. It has a slight yellowish and greenish light colour.

Dunnock (Prunella modularis) sitting on a branch and surrounded by multiple seed pods and strings. It had a grey head, reddish brown wings and back and a light grey and orange belly with dark brown or black spots.

Reed bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) sitting on a thin branch with its beak open in song. It has a black head, a white-grey neck band and orange-brown wings and back, its belly is mostly white or light grey with some darkers spots of black and brown.

European Stonechat (Saxicola rubicola) on a branch of a tree with some green buds growing out of it. It has a black head and beak, a white band under its cheeks and an orange chest.

A few more passerine birds from my visit to #Bloeidaal and #DeSchammer yesterday. Many, oh so many #Chiffchaffs were out and about, but I've also spotted a #Dunnock, a #ReedBunting and the #Stonechat was a lifer for me

I’m sitting in my #garden enjoying a coffee, the dog is asleep on the lawn and the #Chiffchaffs are calling in the Silver Birches. The weak sunshine is such a joy after a frosty night. All is peaceful, for a while at least. #England #Spring
