One day when I was doing my nighttime bug hunts I ran into what appeared to be the hatching grounds of like 100 Banded Tussock Moths. They were all over the ground and bushes and a lot of them looked like they hadn't fully hardened(?) their wings.

This tiny little friend is a Common Ragwood Fruit Fly. Flies are always fun to photograph if you can catch them when they're still. I thought this particular fly had a cool wing pattern and yellow eyes.

The tarantula hawk preys on tarantulas & uses its sting to paralyze the spider before dragging it into a brood nest as living food. Little did I know, I was way too close. This creature has the 2nd most painful bite/sting in the world, only second to the bullet ant. #Ilovebugs #bugphotography

A baby (nymph) pale green assassin bug that inhabited our house back in October. This little one got approval from the whole family to live here rent free. Did a great job of hunting gnats that were in my houseplants.
