The top of a weird flower. It’s not a flower in the normal sense. It looks like a bottle brush. That is, it is the top of a fuzzy just about to bloom flower. Ok, there is a pink fuzzy core, surrounding and coming out of the pink fuzzy core is fuzzy white tendrils. Coming out of the pink and white are white stamen stalks. On the top of the stalks are both red and yellow nubs on the ends. The red are just red, but the yellow ones have black X’s on them. Does that describe it? I don’t know, but it’s weird if you really think about it.
It’s just so…

How to describe this? Ok, it is a photo of a plant husk. There has been a plant and it has had a covering. The covering has come off. The abandoned covering is brown and wispy. It looks like a double helix of the DNA variety. Its is two long thin strips that are wrapping around each other, like there is an invisible cylinder in the middle. Black background. It’s neat, and weird and wispy and plant design stuff.

The low dry stem of an alpine thistle sticks up through smooth snow, its dry flower head covered in a little mound of powdery snow. The afternoon sun is low coming from the left and the thistle casts funny spikey blue shadows. Behind this stem, several thin woody branches - some native shrub that has sown itself into the garden bed- are mostly in blue shadow.

This is a photograph taken underneath a bridge that is crossing a river or canal. The bridge itself seems to be modern and ugly, there are rusting steel girders visible. But the support for the bridge is a brick wall, and on this there is some unusual graffiti. The wall has been whitewashed to provide a background for the graffiti artist's work, which depicts a cartoon skeleton wearing a pink top hat. The skeleton has been drawn in a position that makes it look like he is holding a pipe (it is a real pipe that leads from the ground halfway up the wall). The artist has then added a pale yellow splash of water so that it looks like the pipe is a hosepipe. The water is causing a variety of large multi-coloured mushrooms to grow.
