The problem with Dr. Elizabeth Shee Twohig's assertions, which have been endorsed and promulgated by the Royal Irish Academy in Excavations At Knowth Volume 7, is that they effectively dismiss and reject as invalid any and all existing interpretations of the *meaning* of Ireland's #MegalithicArt.
I don't think I was being "confrontational" about Dr. Shee Twohig's questionable claim that the #MegalithicArt of #Knowth, and by extension all Irish megalithic art, is purely geometric "non-representational art" that "cannot be understood", but this did cause Ken to try to discredit my hypotheses.
One Ken Williams got interested in spending quite a bit of his time trying to discredit my #Eclipsology hypotheses re. I'm not an academic. Dr. Shee Twohig & other #archaeologists & institutions like the Royal Irish Academy need to be more open to non-academics who present credible hypotheses about the *meaning* of Ireland's #MegalithicArt.
I have made good solid cases in blog posts & other online publications.
My perfectly reasonable ideas, that in all probability correctly interpret & therefore shed some actual understanding on the meaning of *some* of Ireland's #MegalithicArt, could have & should have been seriously considered br Dr. Shee Twohig &or the Royal Irish Academy in late 2021, or early 2022.
The scientific astronomical drawing of the 1851 total solar eclipse on the left is almost identical to the captioned photograph of one of the "radial line motif" petroglyphs carved into Dowth's "Stone of the Seven Suns" which was published in TIME-LIFE book 'The Monument Builders'. The "radial line motif" petroglyph from Dowth, a "passage tomb" that has a south-west passage facing the annual "death" of the Sun during the winter solstice sunsets, can be readily interpreted and understood to depict "either the Sun or an eye" as is stated in the caption, but this is a false dichotomy because this "radial line motif" can also by reasonably and plausibly interpreted and understood to be a quite accurate 5 millennia old depiction of the total solar eclipse "eye of God".
Is not the purpose #archaeology to "understand and interpret the past"?
Yet Dr. Elizabeth Shee Twohig & the Royal Irish Academy fail & even refuse to do so.
They abdicate that responsibility by pretending Ireland's #MegalithicArt "cannot be understood", & insisting its meaning remains a "mystery".

A "radial line motif" carved into Dowth's "Stone of the Seven Suns" may represent not just the Sun, but the Sun surrounded by its corona during a total solar eclipse. It compares very well with a scientific astronomical drawing of the 1851 total solar eclipse.
I wonder when there will be a cathartic release of the stubborn academic "blockage" on very reasonably, & quite plausibly, interpreting some of the "circles & crescents" carved into Ireland's #MegalithicArt as the Sun & Moon, & some of the "radial line motifs" as #TotalSolarEclipses?
