Took River down to the Lackawanna Trail down by the river fora 5 mile run. She loved being in a more open space with more room to move and in her longer leash instead of on the road. She pounced on something but didn’t catch anything.

A tip for #Running with #Dogs

Train your dog to, on command, run on the side of the road (so on the gravel or grass next to where you are running). Make it a one word command (e.g. grass! trail! or road!).

Figured out one of the reasons I run despite it being hard every time. It’s that I’m choosing boredom. Even if I have headphones in, I’m still unplugging. Just letting my thoughts go where they will. #boredom #running #dogs #runningwithdogs

I took the beast for a run today. He made it about 3.5km before he had enough of it, but we still walked another 2.5 after that where he got to sniff.

We saw a hawk(?) and the hawk saw us. It was giant. Fortunately my dog isn't snack-sized.

I almost decided to take a rest day from running yesterday, but changed my mind and took the dog for a short jog around the neighborhood. He has to build up his endurance so we started off with an easy 2k. Took a pause when a kid soccer team needed to say hello to him.

I've been so focused on upping my own fitness that I ignored the fitness of someone important to me. My dog is 20lbs overweight according to the vet. I'm starting an exercise regime for him this evening, when it gets a little cooler. Today will be a brisk walk to get started.
