🌱🥶 FREEZE WARNING. To think just a few days ago it was 85°F/29°C in many suburban Chicagoland locations, this morning may drop as low as 27°F/-3°C. Oh...80s again by midweek.🔥 Spring yo-yo continues - with April just an amped-up version of March.

🌱💛 A #SundayYellow rescue, couple months back $1 landed a clearance bag of Narcissus bertonlinii 'Grand Soleil d'Or' (Unknown, pre-1770) into my cart. AKA N. tazzetta ssp. aureus/ssp. bertonlinii. Fragrant & beautiful but not Winter hardy here, will keep potted. Usually grown indoors. Amaryllidaceae
tomato growing under garden bench.
So for non-gardeners🌱, tomatoes can be determinate and indeterminate. This tomato plant was under a community garden bench which made me think it's indeterminate in where it grows, but has a lot of determination. No, no, I do not regret that pun. I'm determinate about it. Cherry up if you hate that.
🌱Before I head back out into the mud from another round of torrential rains, was fun to scroll through so many cheerful #SixOnSaturday posts & blogs.❤️ Here are some Narcissus - Daffodils - still going strong after all the heat, wind & non-stop pummeling from the elements!💪
Spring! Leaves and blooms are burgeoning. And tulips, tulips, tulips! #Sixonsaturday #tulips #Mygarden #Gardening

Today's colours
#SixonSaturday
Six sempervivum species, one of which may actually be jovibarba, mostly in shades of green and russet red with the one exception which is silver and cobwebby
A bonus #SixOnSaturday sempervivum special edition, as they're putting on quite a show at the moment, mostly caught somewhere between being green turning to red or red turning to green, which resonates with me somehow 🤔🌱

A collage of six pictures from my tiny garden this week. The large picture is a bright pink Azalea. The small pictures are white flowers and shiny green leaves of Christa ternata, one of the last tulips, a beautiful apricot colour, white flowers of Iberis, apple blossom from an ancient tree which was in the garden when I moved in and the lime green of Smyrmium perfoliata.
🌱 #sixonSaturday
I have had the opportunity to spend time in my tiny garden this week and that’s where I will be today.
And the tulips go on & on & on 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I think this is my best tulip year since 2020. Having different varieties certainly extends the season #SixOnSaturday #tulips #tulip #bloomscrolling

Collage of 6 flowers: purple honesty, yellow viola, purple violet, yellow poppy, blue forgetmenots, fluffy dandelion seed head
It's the time of year when all the selfseeded flowers start appearing in my garden. I don't know why I bother growing anything else. Honesty, violas, wild violets, Welsh poppies, forgetmenots, dandelion clock #SixOnSaturday
Six pics from my garden this week, a nearly fully formed aquilegia flower bud, (looking like the eagles talons from which it gets its name), red wallflowers, white starbursts of wild garlic, a red and white vampire tulip, variagated green hosta foliage and the first red saxifrage flower. Thanks for reading.
Morning all, ah the sweetness of spring, after months of struggling to find #SixOnSaturday to share from my garden, suddenly the difficulty becomes "which six?" Have a good weekend sky-folk 🌱

Left to right: Fuzzy Phacelia, Phacelia hirsuta; Perfumeballs, Gaillardia suavis with a furrow bee; Annual Winecups, Callirhoe leiocarpa with black Tiger Swallowtail; Western Daisy, Astranthium ciliatum with mining bee, Prairie Verbena, Glandularia bipinnatifida with Hoary Edge skipper, and Scarlet Cupleaf Beardtongue, Penstemon murrayanus with an Eastern Leaf-footed bug. Couldn't find a picture of the phacelia with a bug friend but it gets lots of teeny bees.
I finally have six native plants blooming for #SixonSaturday. #nativeplants #gardening 🌱
