Tawaka? Found in a willow root. If it is, we would like to taste it but can’t find any useful articles on whether it has lookalikes.

Found an unusual mushroom here in Seattle, west facing hill, slightly higher than sea level, second week of October. VERY firm and hard. No gills to look at. Any idea what type or category this mushroom is…? #fungifriends

I’m no #mycologist but if correct it could be the rare Artomyces pyxidatus.

A close-up shot of several mushrooms with thick, red and white mottled stems and light-coloured caps, partially hidden amongst pine needles, moss, and other forest debris. The sunlight casts a warm glow on the red stems, highlighting their textured surface.

A fallen tree covered in Turkey Tail polypore mushrooms! They are edible but they have a tough texture. People make medicinal teas from it.
NEVER eat wild mushrooms unless you know exactly what they are!

Some really neat little orange mushrooms growing on the end, of a rotten pine log
I have absolutely no idea what kind of #mushrooms these are. They made a pretty neat little photo though. #nature #fungi #mushroomidentification

I think this #bolete is Xanthoconium stramineum. Any other ideas on it? I don't have a cross-section picture, but there was no staining. Found in VT, USA in early August, growing around oaks.🍄

Does anyone know what kind of mushrooms these are? They were found on dead trees on a hike after some rain in Southern California! Also- as someone with a growing interest in fungi, where do I start my research? #foraging #mushroomidentification #hikeandlearn #mycology #outdooradventure
