A cerulean blue Steller’s jay perches on a Douglas fir bough. The bird’s feet, legs, shoulders, neck, head, crest, beak, and eyes are ebony. The bird’s belly sides wings and tail are a deep blue. It’s like sky has come down to kiss earth. Just above the jay’s beak is a set of neon blue racing stripes going up the bird’s crest. Green fir fronds surround the jay.
I bring the peanut.
The jay brings the gaze.
