Starfield Vineyards El Dorado Conouise 2023, California Reddish in color with light intensity. Fruity nose of fresh picked strawberries, cherries, raspberries, spices and light herbs. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with bing cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, bitter vegetables and earth notes. Short finish with soft tannins and bitter herbs. This is such an interesting red wine from California. Feels like a very light Southern Rhone red. Fruit forward and elegant. Nicely balanced with mild complexity. Good right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up. Easy drinking, and good by itself or with food. A nice wine to pair with a nice day by the pool. A blend of 95% Counoise and 5% Grenache. Aged for 18 months in (24% new) French oak barrels. A tiny production of less than 1,200 bottles. 12.5% alcohol by volume. 88 points. $38.

Col Solare Winery Collector's Society Cabernet Franc 2022, Red Mountain, Washington State Deep purple in color with a wide purplish rim. Strong nose of black currants, plums, oak, chocolates, black pepper and herbs. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, light earth, herbs, black pepper, spices and chocolates. Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This is a very tasty Cabernet Franc from Red Mountain in Washington State. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolved. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine. This Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc is smooth, rich and fruit forward. Soft and elegant. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. A blend of 94% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 20 months. A small production of less than 3,500 bottles. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $95.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This 7 year old Napa Cabernet is already drinking beautifully. Smooth and elegant. Spicy and entertaining. Rich, complex and extracted. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has great potential to become a 96 point wine. This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is nicely balanced, soft and engaging. Wine Enthusiasts 94 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with barbecue meats. Chateau Vannières Bandol Rouge 2021, Provence, France Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Fruity nose with red fruits, earth, tobacco and wild flowers. Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, spices, light wood, tobacco, herbs and dark chocolates. Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very tasty Mourvèdre from Bandol. Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex, easy drinking and interesting. Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Good by itself or with food, and would pair nicely with game meats. A blend of 95% Mourvedre and 5% Grenache. Aged for 22 months in large French oak barrels. 91 points. $50.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Grenache from the Rock District in Walla Walla Valley. Rich and fruit forward. Very complex and spicy. Drinking beautifully now, and will continue to do so in the next 5 to 7 years. Peaking now, and very elegant. Soft and smooth. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Interesting stuff, and not for the faint of heart, but so delicious, and a great sipping wine to share with friends and talk about. A tiny production of only 125 Magnum bottles made. 14.1% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $260.

Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This 9 year old Syrah from Washington State is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to do so in the next few years. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and entertaining with a nice mouthfeel. Very complex at this point. Good right out of the bottle and better after 30 minutes of airtime. Wine Enthusiasts 90 points. I had this vintage 6 years ago, and it is drinking so much better now. It was well worth the wait. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime. More earth notes show up as it opens up. A lighter red that is spicy, tangy and interesting. reminds me of a light Cote du Rhône. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years, and see how it evolves. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and better with a light chill. 100% Grenache grapes were aged in (15% new) French oak barrels for 18 months. A small production of less than 5,000 bottles. 14.1% alcohol by volume. 88 points. $42.

Full bodied and soft, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and very fruity on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, vanilla, milk chocolates, dried fruits and peppercorn. Very long finish with fine grained tannins, spices and cherries. This 3 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already drinking gorgeously. Rich and extracted, yet elegant. Soft and smooth with a great mouthfeel. Still young, but already so delicious, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 10 years and see how it evolves. I've had many different vintages of this wine and it is very consistent. Fruity, good right out of the bottle, and much better after 4 hours in the decanter. Powerful with subtle elegance. Spicy and entertaining. A gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. A small production of only 300 cases. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 95 points. $200.
