Distant Goshawk in the murk
Distant pair of displaying Ravens in the murk.
Distant singing Woodlark in the murk.
A singing Mistle Thrush y’day, was noteworthy, 3 chasing each other around the garden today.
Later @rspb.bsky.social Lakenheath a calling Curlew was NFY.
Later still, no sign of the local Stone Curlew again, but 1, maybe 2 prs of Goshawk, a pr Ravens and singing Woodlarks were good.

Peregrine on its favoured spot. Sitting on a Gargoyle’s head.
The local Pigeons are not keen on settling on the Church when one of the Peregrines is up there.
A couple of old friends popped up today. The Water Rail in the millstream, that has been MIA for over a month, and one of the Peregrines on the church, that I’ve not seen for a week or two. It was keeping the local Feral Pigeons on their toes.

Purple Sandpipers at Ness Point Lowestoft. These birds are so interesting to watch, scampering over the rocks with waves crashing around them. Won't be long before they migrate north to their breeding grounds. #Birds #SuffolkBirds
It was good to see the Hume's Warbler at Lowestoft on 14/2/26. It gave brief views in the morning, and then wasn’t seen for a few hours: I relocated it early afternoon, in the north-east corner of Sparrow's Nest Gardens, where it showed very well.

Later a flyover Woodlark at Cavenham.

Does have the feeling of killing time till the spring though.
The drizzle stopped and the sun just about broke through the greyness yesterday so we nipped to Lowestoft for another look at the Humes Warbler on the Denes which showed beautifully. Then on to Ness Point for the wintering Purple Sandpipers #suffolkbirds
Pale Brindled Beauty
Fifth time of running a trap this winter, 5th time coming up empty!
Moth envy sated though, with a well marked, #8 Pale Brindled Beauty of my own on a random wall. NFM/NFG and new for tetrad 🔲 🤗 #teammoth
A female Blackcap, after last weeks male, was the only other thing of note. #SuffolkBirds
A rather stunning Lapwing at Minsmere this afternoon #ukbirding #suffolkbirds #lapwing
Don’t get many Minsmere ticks so a Raven today was a long awaited addition. Brings me to 279 for Minsmere. #SuffolkBirds
Purple Sandpipers braving the waves on the rocks at Ness Point, Lowestoft this morning. #SuffolkBirds #UKBirding

Some birds today, with a Raven at a local nest site, on the way to Sainsburys (other retailers are available)
Also a little drive out of town, and some Bewick’s Swans with Whooper Swans, though most were too distant to differentiate. Possibly only my 2nd sighting in my 10K⭕️

Indeed a sad loss. Andrew's great photos graced The Harrier in many issues along with some interesting articles #SuffolkBirds
Peregrines this afternoon. Female above and male below, on the Gargoyle of the local church, as viewed from the Kitchen.
Watched the male Peregrine eating (a Pigeon?) this morning, whilst I was eating my breakfast (not a Pigeon).
Late afternoon he flew in again to his favourite Gargoyle and was joined by the female on the battlements of the church.
Don’t often see them both at the same time. #SuffolkBirds

WF Geese still near Henny Bridge amongst Canadas still accompanied by the single Barnacle. Little Egret and Little Grebe on Stour, some Pied Wagtails in horse field where one Shire continues to nosh his way through the fence rails. Rain curtailed further observation! #essexbirding #suffolkbirds

Slightly longer 🚲 this morning, muscles protested mildly. Geese have moved onto Shalford Meadow, ~200 Canadas still with a Barnacle, Greylags & at least 6 WF right by Henny Bridge. The single Herring Gull has returned to his spot on the Common too, nice to see him back! #essexbirding #suffolkbirds
