Various natural dyes have been mixed in bowls resting on a trestle table along with other pottery containers and tools to create the decorative hangings seen around the walls of the hut where workers have been using period techniques, dress, and materials in a project to build a 13th century castle at Guédelon in northern France since 1997.

Photograph of an area of fabric storage in The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle. Vital part of looking after a textile collection and almost as fascinating as the collection itself. Yes, I surprised myself getting this excited about storage solutions! The museum has various areas where you can learn about how pieces are cleaned, stored and cared for. A large fluted, dark tinted glass door is drawn back to show rolls of wrapped textiles protected by cream fabric. To the bottom right of the image, the glass door has beautiful gold letter spelling out 'ROLLED'.

The walls of this chamber room are red silk damask with gold braided trim. It reflects Prussian Baroque interior design. The room has gold candle fixtures on the wall, gold crown molding, wood parquet floor and a large fireplace made of marble and tile (more Prussian influences). A drawing room in a Georgian house house in Yorkshire. It’s called Nostell and it belongs to the National Trust. The room has a sumptuous set of furniture upholstered in a satin type fabric pattern in elegant wide stripes of gold and cream. The carpet is a rich red with a discrete flower pattern. All the walls are adorned with tapestries. The is a fireplace and tho we only glimpse the ceiling here we can see that is lavish plaster mouldings.
