You can now play "vetovoima" in the browser! This little arcade game is pretty unique - you control gravity in a circular world to reach the goal before the time runs out.

And here's the first dwarf planet! It's far from the sun and features a "sea" of frozen nitrogen. I like how the very thin atmosphere makes it look much more dramatic.

After monumental anticipation one of the always cited building blocks of shipping a #Bevy native editor the bsn! macro is now merged and will be part of Bevy 0.19: https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pull/23413 #rustlang #gamedev 🦀🎮
1/🧵 Terrain and landscaping solved. Next steps: road laying tools will calculate realistic slopes, cuts and fills, and retaining walls. #bevy #GridIsland

Abysm today: Got a bug report related to sound, and fixed a problem related to the volume calculation, as well as a system ordering issue.

A video game dialog box, showing a cartoon figure, and trivia question, and the statement "Show me what you have learned."
Lopers Game Concept #5: Leveling Up
There is no XP bar, except the one in real life. YOU ARE THE XP BAR. Leveling up occurs when you have practiced enough to pass a fairly fast paced trial.
In game progress is real world progress.

project goal: higher level language for #bevy, that deeply integrates with bevy to solve problems that might be annoying with rust
A cartoon figure on a stone road surrounded by shrubbery.
Lopers Game Concept #4: Roads
There are many towns. Some are connected by roads and some are not. Travel is quick and easy with a road, but bushwacking to a disconnected town risks getting lost in PCG wilderness.

And another one! I quite like the wavelike pattern on this one. It's also the first to feature the new procedural impact craters.

yesterday i got a dynamically linked #bevy executable to sync between my build machine and a docker container on my laptop and run a graphical application by replacing the elf header which pointed to the default hash-suffixed build artifact, and also syncing the toolchain's stdlib .so
A trade menu in a video game, showing a variety of goods in 2 columns.
Lopers Game Concept #3: Living Economy
There are many towns in the area, and each one has a population that is farming and crafting. NPCs work in the background and create goods, which have prices decided by scarcity.
This creates the opportunity for arbitrage.

This week, on the #bevymergetrain: async web tasks! text input! gnarly unsafe Rust ECS internals! bevy_infinite_grid! project management considerations!
Thanks again to all of our lovely contributors: both authors and reviewers. We couldn't make #bevy without you.

Lopers Game Concept #2: Interrupts
While you create questions to cast spells, your opponent does too. You can see each others questions, and if you answer your opponent's question faster than they can, you interrupt them.

More experiments with canyon features! This time with a slightly different approach which allows making them even larger. I like how those help sell the "icy moon" look. Poor moon has been through a lot though :(

Hi #bevy! Want to hang out at #rustweek in May? We're gathering a list of folks for socialization and unconf planning purposes!
If last year is any judge, it should be a lot of fun: bikes, food, hacking, writing docs, pestering upstream :3

A cartoon figure standing next to a goose in a marsh. 2 multiple choice questions are visible.
Lopers Game Concept #1: Questions
Every spell cast requires a skill testing question. The subject of the questions is decided by the player's class, difficulty of the question is determined by the player's level.
All are meant to be rapid fire to keep the action high.

A procedurally generated impact crater on an otherwise plain sphere. The radius varies and there is a lot of variation in the terrain at the rim.
Finally sat down and worked through the math to generate realistic looking crater geometry. Now nothing will stop me from spamming those when creating new planets and moons.

I added a weather tablet to my game. I have dynamic weather in the game, and depending on the weather, some quests can be solved more easily. With the weather forecast, the player can plan their quests better.
