First ever kingfisher photo I've taken, I was over the moon about it because I managed to photograph it with a little fish in its beak.

This kingfisher I spotted in Bloeidaal after a day on which I photographed my first good heron in flight, first lapwings, first dunnock and first stonechat. That truly was a great day, exactly 1 year and a day ago.

This kingfished I photographed at the Waterwingebied, which is the park next to my apartment building. This male just came out of a tunnel in a clay mound on the corner of a pond. A week later I would even spot and photograph this one and its mate together, but since I only had 4 photos to go with this post, I picked this one.

So far the best and most detailed shot I've managed to take of a perching kingfisher. This was taken from a birding hide, so I did have some advantages over all my previous encounters, however I know that my skills have improved a lot that even with the same camera and lens I've already had for over a year I wouldn't have been able to take it this sharp.

Progress of ~1.5 years of #Kingfisher photo's.
First on 30 November 2024, 2 months on the new hobby. Next one was in #Bloeidaal 1 year ago, a week later my best so far at #Waterwingebied
Yesterday beat all of those with a great sharp and detailed shot! Extra details in the alt-txt
