After the excitement of the #NewYearPlantHumt I've barely had a minute to look for plants this week. Nothing in flower of note but this thriving patch of Black Spleenwort brightened up a very wet, grey day in the Forest of #Bowland today.

Bitter-vetch, Lathyrus linifolius from some lovely species-rich grassland in the Forest of #Bowland.
The national decline of Bitter-vetch is linked to the destruction of unimproved pasture. A habitat that is much scarcer than it should be but the potential for restoration is high.

The very wonderful Andromeda polifolia, Bog-rosemary on the #Bowland Fells. Far less common than it should be in the English uplands due to destructive management practices .The bogs are very dry at the moment. The wetter we can get them, the more resilient they will be. #wildflowerhour
