#brocadeodyssey I love how hardcore the whole "carved a message into his own bones" is
That takes some special grit, going this far knowing no message you hide anywhere else could survive until your death is investigated years later, but this way time works in your favor to reveal the message

I’d been hoping for the same - lovely #SwordAndBrocade type stuff with a dash of #UnderThePower style cheeky charm from Tan Songyun’s character. I’m also a fan of Xheng Ye Cheng. So it was disappointing that #BrocadeOdyssey didn’t hit for me. I hope it works better for you.

Face-swapping is one of my favourite cdrama tropes! The most recent drama I saw with this was #InBlossom, and I love that it is just accepted as a rare but normal probability among other probabilities😅
But the cgi face-swap usually does feel weird - as it did in #BrocadeOdyssey

I also dropped #BrocadeOdyssey, despite my admiration for Tan Songyun.
But #FlourishedPeony (with Yang Zi & Li Xian) is everything I hoped Brocade to be. It’s such a beautifully made show - painful and beautiful & warm in the right way. Yang Zi & Li Xian are so good together!

Siiigh so I don’t want to commit and say I’m dropping #BrocadeOdyssey, but I will say that I put it down to watch #WhenThePhoneRings and I just don’t feel like picking it up again 😩
Now I’m testing the waters of #GuardiansOfTheDafeng and waiting for #StudyGroup to come out.

I’m watching #BrocadeOdyssey & #JingChao finally made an appearance and, y'all, if you haven’t seen him in #LostTrackofTime, you are doing yourself a grave injustice! This cdrama is a showcase for his charisma and though the story is one of “revenge” I’d argue that it’s actually about his redemption

To be fair they did a much better job than I expected with the AI face, but it still sticks out like a sore thumb for people like me, so I’m glad they pared his role back. #BrocadeOdyssey is a serviceable enough costume drama, but it sadly wasn’t the genius artisan epic I was hoping it to be.

It really depends on how integral the character is to the total drama. The more episodes they are involved in, the more difficult it is to edit the final product. #BrocadeOdyssey may have resorted to an AI revamp more easily because it is an unrealistic costume 🎭, whereas LhF is modern & realistic.

#BrocadeOdyssey it's an entertaining character driven drama that delivers a really fun lead couple that starts as allies with a common goal and slowly develop to more. The script it's a little convoluted but the performances are what make it work.
