Today’s #BirdOfTheDay alt theme is #EverydayBirds birds you see often.
My two favorites. A Black-capped chickadee and a Mallard duck.
Blue bird with white neck and chest, pale grey belly, blue wings, head, most of back. It's standing on a green T-post, with red twig dogwood branches all in the background.
Scrub jays are around every day in the garden.
Intelligent and curious little things, and more civilized than the Steller's jays, imho, another of the ubiquitous bird neighbors.

My everyday bird is definitely Anna's Hummingbird. We have year-round Anna's in our yard, even in the bleakest of winter. They are chatty & saucy & not at all shy.

Photo shows the top of a small brown bird standing on a lichen covered stone next to a walking boot (mine) and looking over to a camera bag which it subsequently hopped onto. Native to the Falklands and Tierra del Fuego Tussac-birds are ground nesting. The first 2 islands we went to had made great and successful efforts to remove invasive rats and these little passerines were everywhere. Their absence was very noticeable when we subsequently went to Islands that were not rat free despite attempts to get rid of the mammals and we had some very interesting discussions with the lodge managers about the success of different ways of attempting to make an island free of rats, and how difficult it was and how labour intensive it had been on those islands which had been successful
