Prime minister Luxon is a dead man walking
His next cabinet meeting will require a medium, not a secretary #NZPol
“Funding for resilience needs to not be a 'marketing exercise': Luxon”
When our 6pm news (largely watched by older viewers) fails to point out what this govt has done to plunge us into a far worse situation re; climate resilience/adaptation, it is a total failure of the 4th estate. Imho. #nzpol

My take on why I think #Luxon is still a dead man walking, regardless of the caucus vote:

#BHN Tonight at 9pm
- Luxon has the confidence of his caucus...we think
- Anyone for a buttered chicken? Shane Jones maybe?
- Hipkins on Indian FTA and fighting so hard against Te Pati Maori

So that's nice. Now, about assurances Luxon is "across all the details", I expect something about this to come up shortly, along with the "expertly managed, with a lot of phone calls made" plan to mitigate it, yes?
You can do this any time now Chris.
Seriously, up to you.
Any time.
Any.
Now would be an excellent time for Luxon to release the Uffindell Report.
No one wants the poisoned chalice... they'd rather Luxon lose the election and take over claiming it wasn't their problem
At least they've learned that much
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon survives confidence vote www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
"Winston says it was a 'very bad move' by Luxon to call confidence vote, suggests it won't be the last" ah Winston the headline hog strikes again #nzpol
Luxon really slaying the endorsements.. #nzpol
Luxon’s attempt to refocus the media is constitutionally misplaced. Confidence is the lifeblood of government. And the media have a legitimate interest in interrogating changing dynamics in confidence.
Luxon finally getting that international profile he's always craved #nzpol

Well, at least we learned today the one thing Luxon can execute cleanly is the pout-and-bounce from his own press stand ups.
#nzpol
Luxon surviving a confidence vote is less about his fitness for the job and more about the unfitness of his caucus, who lack even the minimal amount of spine needed to roll the most inept PM we’ve seen in my lifetime.
“Every day kiwis will not be losing sleep over political sideshows in wellington.”
Sorry Luxon I’m a Tuesday and Thursday only Kiwi so this sideshow is engineered for me. I love it. I will read all the news stories about it 🙂↔️
To tie these threads all together, Luxon gave a press conference and talked about the things kiwis care about above political drama and did not once mention the ongoing emergency in the city he was speaking in or the loss of property and quite possibly life that those caused.
Gerry Brownlee could have been summoned in near the end to break a stalemate leadership vote
Luxon has changed his wording from "full support of Caucus" to "support of Caucus" #NZPOL
Goddammit do I have to do proper work now
I wish my actual job was hating on Luxon, I would be so good at it
NZ PM Luxon attacks media for reporting on successive National Party leadership coup attempts
What an idiot . Of course it's relevant #NZPOL
Oh, they kept Luxon? So they're happy to lose the election then?
Weird tactic.
#nzpol
The fact that Luxon survived a confidence says a lot about the lack of depth in the National Party.
Sharing this story from The Spinoff largely to ask "what on earth did Luxon's team think they were conveying with this image"? He doesn't look remotely relaxed, the foot up as a joke might make sense but his face conveys no humour, the paper everywhere, the tiny coffee, what?
Updated Luxon reaction :- Dead Man Balking
My view, as a brown woman, is that if Luxon fails he takes down this whole idea that the private sector experience and being a pākehā man makes you qualified.. That being rich is a qualification (it’s not). That being a white corporate man equals to having vision, leadership qualities, competence.
