I was a shy child. Because of the Peter’s Anomaly I had to wear a patch over my good eye from the age of two to about five. The early 80’s were harsh times for teasing and being bullied. I would get pointed at, kids would loudly laugh at me.. it made me recoil into myself.

I know, I think about that too. Having a sick, unhealthy kid must be miserable and scary. And it’s not like back in the day the Mom’s had the resources and community they do now.

That’s terrible tho. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. It’s not fair. None of that is fair for you or your Mom. Genetic defects happen. Noones at fault. It is what it is. Not like it can be stopped.

Oh I bet it did! I had two major surgeries before the age of two and was born with several health issues myself.. so I get it. My Mom was adamant on me being my own advocate from a younger age as well.
