At our #Morphology Meetings we established a keynote award to enable early career researchers to make first experience with having keynote talks. This year Paul Kalke won this prize and presented his work on the evolution of palps in #annelids at #MM#26. Congratulations!

How does fertilisation differ between land- and water-based #annelids? Having to evolve a new system certainly opens up a window for high levels of haploid competition between gametes.

A new paper in Nature Ecol & Evol by
@rosafernandez.bsky.social et al. shows a #punctuated burst of genome evolution in #annelids as they transitioned from marine to land and freshwater habitats.
