This is a bee I'm always on the look-out for; the Common Mourning Bee (Melecta albifrons). Had one in the garden today, first for several years. They are parasitic cuckoo bees. that attack the nests of Anthophora flower bees. #bees #CuckooBees #parasitic

On this afternoon’s walk, we found a large patch of Red Dead-nettle. We spotted quite a few male Hairy-footed Flower Bees buzzing about on it, and also our first Southern Cuckoo Bee. Not the best of pics, but there you go.
