Dark ruby in color. Fruity nose of red fruits with spices and peppercorn. Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate and simple. Showing red fruits with earth, light wood, spices, dark chocolates, peppercorn and coffee. Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. A good food wine, but a little unbalanced to drink by itself. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 86 points. $30.

Castello di Amorosa La Castellana Super Tuscan 2017, Napa Valley, California Dark ruby/ purple in color with a reddish rim. Fruity nose of black fruits with cedar, chocolates, spices, herbs and light earth. Full-bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, dark chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth, black tea and peppercorn. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a delicious 8 year old Cabernet based blend from Napa Valley. Fruit forward with nice complexity. Showing a soft mouthfeel, elegant and rich. Good right out of the bottle, and better with some air time. Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 12% Sangiovese. Aged in (90% new) French Oak barrels for 20 months. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $135.
