Tiny garden snail, recently hatched and hungry, one of several dozen intent on munching my dahlias. Yes I know snails aren't insects.
A little close inspection revealed why some of my dahlias are looking tatty as f**k, a horde of teeny tiny recently hatched snails hiding in amongst the ruffled petals. Very sneaky. π±ππ·

I was surprised at the comparative size of the Little Egret and Coot. Whilst the Egret is taller, especially when it stretches its neck, the Coot did seem rather plump. Perhaps the Coot is somewhat like an iceberg, with most of it's mass beneath the surface when seen in the water! #birds #ukwildlfe

A photograph of a planthopper nymph. A red eyed but otherwise drab coloured bug. What stands out about it is a very fluffy rear end, which resembles a white bristled brush.
I met this wonderful beastie earlier today.
Itβs the nymph of a planthopper, a sap sucking bug. Itβs furry bum is actually a waxy structure and it is thought that these hair like filaments, help to remove excess fluids. #ukwildlfe #bugs #cixiidae #Nature #macro #invertebrates

Fieldfares.
A casual glance might lead you to believe that fruit & berries are the main food of these birds, when they arrive for the winter.
In fact they prefer foraging in the open fields.
For every bird in the garden, there will be 50 searching the pasture for grubs & worms.
