Spoon-billed Sandpiper, critically endangered & one of the rarest birds; main reason for my trip to Thailand. As of 2024–2025, global population of Spoon-billed Sandpipers is estimated 330–450. I was lucky to have seen 2 together. #spoonbillledsandpiper #birds #wildlife #rarebirds #birdwatching

It's #FlyDay. Have I mentioned that I love photographing #terns? I probably have. They are remarkable creatures and a challenge to image as they fly so fast. If I can get my #Z8 to lock on, I just hold the shutter down. #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #EastCoastKin #birds #birdsinflight

New bill would bring funding to ranchers and landowners to conserve wildlife When we think of wildlife habitat conservation in the U.S., we usually think of our public lands. We think of national parks, state parks or other public lands such as our national forests or wildlife refuges. But here’s the thing…Public lands cover less than 40% of the country, and much of this is concentrated in the American west. This means a full 60% of lands in the U.S. are in private hands. If you are a bird or bear, or maybe an elk, it must be awfully difficult to move and survive in landscapes where the majority of lands are in private hands with uses that can threaten your survival. Housing developments, agricultural fields, drained wetlands, warehouses, parking lots don’t provide the kinds of food, water and shelter resources needed to make a healthy living. To help address this issue, bipartisan bills in both the U.S. House and Senate have been introduced to support wildlife conservation on private lands. Representatives Gabe Vasquez (D-NM) and Ryan Zinke (R-MT) introduced the Habitat Connectivity on Working Lands Act in the House last year. Last month, Senators Heinich (D-NM) and Sheehy (R-MT) introduced companion legislation in the Senate. These bills, H.R 2235 and S.4091,...

A roe deer buck is captured in mid-leap across a grassy ridge during sunrise. The deer is illuminated from behind by warm, low-angled golden light, highlighting the texture of its fur and the edges of its antlers. The foreground consists of tall, dark grass in shadow, while the background shows a soft-focus green meadow and distant trees under a pale, hazy morning sky.

I didn’t see a single snipe, but I captured some roe deer photos instead that I’m absolutely thrilled with. 🦌🤍

Photograph of a black morph Eastern gray squirrel standing on a branch with out of focus trees, branches and a grey hazy sky in the background. The squirrel is facing to the left in profile with its tail resting along its back and it is holding a small bundle of spring leaves and leaf buds in its fore paws which are held close to its muzzle. Gray squirrels typically have grey and brown fur with white abdomen and chest fur, a long bushy tail, a triangular head with dark eyes, proportionally large ears, a typical rodent muzzle, long, black whiskers, hand-like fore paws, and claws that allow the squirrel to cling to vertical surfaces. However, this is a melanistic gray squirrel sometime referred to a black morph of black squirrel and, as the name suggests, have black or dark black-brown fur all over their bodies.

The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) is a small, iconic songbird known for its bright orange-red breast, face, and cheeks, contrasting with a brown back and white belly. Measuring about 12.5–14 cm, they are highly territorial, insectivorous, and known for their bold, inquisitive nature, often following gardeners to feed on disturbed invertebrates

A large brown bird is walking on the grass in a meadow in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. This is a Wild Turkey, a bird that doesn’t get enough appreciation. Wild Turkeys can fly, but they spend most of their time on the ground, so they are very wary. When you see a bunch of Wild Turkeys in a field, they are usually hustling away from you, so you don’t get to appreciate how handsome they really are, with bronze-green iridescent plumage.
