A male Costa's hummingbird comes up for air from nature's pantry. He is lit by the sun on his right, giving him an iridescent blue crown and a flared purple gorget. His wings are out and thin-ish, and darker blueish sky can be seen between the feathers on his right wing. He has a green vest and a mean look, and he's staring right at me.

Redwing (Turdus iliacus) a seasonal migrant from Scandinavia that come over the North Sea to take advantage of our milder winter climate.
A Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) is a year round UK resident. They find themselves in competition with migrant species for berries.
Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris) is also a seasonal migrant that come over the North Sea from Scandinavia to take advantage of our milder winter climate and plentiful supply of berries.
Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) also travel over the North Sea in large numbers some years. Other years virtually none arrive. So far this year I have not seen a single one.
