Col Solare Winery Collector's Society Malbec 2021, Red Mountain, Washington State Deep purple in color with a short purple rim. Strong fruity nose and full bodied, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing black plums, cooked cherries, sweet blackberries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, peppercorn, tobacco leaf and black tea. Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very tasty Malbec from Red Mountain in Washington State. Extracted and fruit forward. Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and spicy. A good sipping wine. Rich and in your face kind of wine. A blend of 96% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (60% New) French Oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of only 2,800 bottles. 15.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $85.

This is a tasty and easy drinking Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley. Elegant and fruit forward. Soft and smooth. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining. Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years. Fruit forward right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $40.

Light yellow in color. Nose of citrus, orange juice, apples and tangerines. Medium plus in body with medium acidity and medium plus size bubbles. Sweet on the palate with yellow apples, orange juice, tangerines, and light spices. Short finish with ripe citrus fruits. This sweet sparkling is easy drinking and good as a dessert, all by itself. More complex on the palate than the nose, and better when properly chilled. Actually feels like a sweet sparkling wine with a touch of orange juice. A good alternative to Mimosa. 11.5% alcohol by volume. $30.

This special Cuvée from a great vintage in Southern Rhone, is neither bitter nor tart, and a great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of Grenache, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul Blanc and Picard, all from Old Vines. A small production of only 4,000 bottles. Aged for 6 months in used oak barrels. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $110.

Dry on the palate with limes, lemons, grapefruits, green apples, vegetables, spices, bitter herbs and white pepper. Tangy finish with limes and spices. This is a very enjoyable Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. Rich, complex and elegant. Showing lots of earth notes, which surprised me a bit. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years and see how it evolves. A good food wine that I paired with an Italian seafood pasta dish. 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes were aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 11 months. A small production of only 15 barrels. 14.2% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $50.
