This is a portrait image looking out at the view between some of the rocky outcrops. Gritstone boulders are on either side in the distance are autumnal silver birch, beyond them there are rolling hills of the park and above them the darkening sky.

The photo is dominated by a large bank of layered clouds across the sky. The bottom half of this is a band of turbulent, swirling clouds in various shades of grey with some white. Above this is a large mound of fluffy white clouds, lit up by the sun. There is blue sky above and below the cloud, although it is brighter above. Below the lower section of blue sky, there is a line of land with buildings visible on it and then blue sea below that. In the bottom right corner in the foreground is a section of steep, grass-covered hillside on my side of the sea channel.

A sculpture of a lion with manlike features, or a man with a lion’s mane, I’m not sure which. Whatever it is I think it’s very beautiful. It stands on a plinth made of on old tree trunk in the garden at Chatsworth. It’s next to a path and surrounded by large granite rocks. The sculpture is on the left of the frame look across the photo. The path curves in from the bottom right corner and out again half way up. Trees form the backdrop including a lovely red Japanese maple.

Black-and-white lithograph showing the torso of a woman wearing a corset and a metal-paneled chastity skirt with riveted seams. Two hands pull open the front of the corset like a zipper, revealing interlocking gears and mechanical parts inside her body instead of flesh. The bra above has a cow-print pattern, and a gingham pattern fills the background. A bouquet of flowers rises in the foreground toward the opening of the corset. The composition contrasts delicate flowers and domestic patterns with exposed machinery, creating a surreal commentary on the mechanical, objectified expectations placed on women.

Quite a few #horizontal lines in my second #lithograph here. I can’t wait till next semester when I can spend the whole time in the #lithography studio. I’ve e fallen in love with a new medium. And it makes for good #BluSkyArtShow posts.

A stitched panorama taken at dawn on the side of Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District. We are looking at, and over, one of the so called plug holes, they are overflows for the reservoir, to Derwent Edge beyond. The plug hole is round and stepped. The reservoir was high so water pouring over it. It’s silky in appearance as it’s a long exposure. There is cloud and colour in the sky sitting over Derwent Edge.

If you ever happen upon the #boyne #estuary on the #baltray side you will see a fair few of these structures. Tradition is you add your stone to one and make a wish. If the cairn falls, you start again..

A portrait oriented image. The bottom two thirds contain the top of St Mark’s Campanile, above it hangs the moon. Or does it….. actually it’s a round light suspended from an arch that is not in the frame. I’ve cheated a little by cloning out the light’s fixing so it appears to be floating freely. The image is in monochrome as I felt it suited it.

A landscape oriented image looking over the water of the Grand Canal in Venice. In the water are wood posts on which gondolas are tied. Beyond these are some of the amazing buildings that line the canal on which the sun is shining setting them all aglow.

Venice is a wonder for many reasons, one being that it was built it by driving wooden stakes through soft silt into hard clay that could hold up the buildings above.
